If you've been thinking about buying a more energy or water-efficient appliance for your home, this weekend may be the time to do so. From 12:01 a.m. Friday, September 19 to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, the State of Florida will suspend sales tax collections on the first $1,500 of a qualifying Energy Star or Water Sense product. This exemption is limited to a single purchase of a qualifying appliance costing more than $500, but there is no limit for items costing less than $500. Some big ticket items include clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, pool pumps, water heaters and weather-based irrigation controllers.
OUC customers can save even more by using one of our many rebates. For example, right now we offer a $650 rebate on a new Energy Star heat pump hot water heater. See the entire list at OUC.com/rebates.
